This clever little easy to use utility automatically copies files to any location, using preset events.

Smart File Transfer

You only need set it up once and Smart File Transfer will keep running the file transfer (or copy) process automatically using your pre-scheduled settings.

There is no installation wizard, therefore it can be loaded on most remote server solutions.

Simply copy Smart File Transfer.exe (executable) file to a folder and double-click to open.

Using Smart File Transfer

Smart File Transfer will automatically overwrite files and/or folders.

If you do not wish to have these overwritten use the custom folder feature.

1. Double click Smart File Transfer icon to open the utility.

2. Click the Event List top menu or right mouse click within the Event list window

3. Select New Event (Ctrl+N)

4. Then name the Event 

Complete Transfer Options

5. Select an option when the transfer is complete

  • Do Nothing - leaves the computer in its current state.

  • Restart – will close all active running programs and restart the computer. If your computer has multiple accounts it will remain at the logon screen, otherwise it may auto login to the desktop.

  • Logoff – will close all active running programs and log off the user account

  • Shutdown - will close all active running programs and shutdown the computer

Enable/Disable Event

6. Select either Yes to enable the event allowing it to run the transfer process as selected in the schedule or No to disable the event.

7. Select from the following options to set up an interval for your file transfers:

  • Manual: executes only if the user selects Run now. Not scheduled

  • Timer: repeatedly transfers files every X minutes.

  • Once: transfers files at the given date and time.

  • Daily: transfers files every day at the given time.

  • Weekly: transfers files once a week at the given day of the week.

  • Monthly: transfers files once a month, at the given day and time.

  • Yearly: transfers files once a year, at the given day and time.

Source file/folder transfer(s)

8. These are files or folders you wish copied:

  • Add Files – Select individual files or multiple files to be transferred

  • Add Folder – Select folder(s) to be transferred

  • Delete – removes the written file/folder path from the source window (it will not delete the actual file(s) or folder(s))

  • Include folder path - When transferring files/folders you may also with to include the complete folder structure, as well as the transferred files.

9. Create a location (folder) to transfer the source files

  • Add Folder – Select the location (folder) to transfer the files into

  • Custom Folder – Auto creates folders based on certain parameters:

    • Browse - Select the location (folder) to transfer the files into

    • Either free text a custom format using a combination of the codes shown in the drop down list or select a preset format from the drop down list

  • Delete - removes the written path from the destination window (it will not delete the actual folder)

Custom Folder

This will automatically create a different folder after each copy process, using the specific codes shown in the drop down menu.

However you may create your own folder naming format, by rearranging the codes shown below:

Date/Time example of the 1st February 2008 22:12:59

  • [YY] = 08

  • [YYYY] = 2008

  • [MM] = 02

  • [DD] = 01

  • [hh] = 22

  • [mm] = 12

  • [ss] = 59

  • [n] = creates sequentially numbered folder names

Example: [YY]-[MM] Daily File Transfer [n] would read: 08-02 DAILY FILE TRANSFER 1

Note: Please type Date characters in Uppercase and Time in lowercase. Time is always represented in a 24 hour format
